De La Soul Delays Album, Releases "For Your Pain & Suffering" EP
Originally slated to come out today, "And the Anonymous Nobody" gets pushed back to August.
Six months ago, De La Soul set the release date for their Kickstarter-funded album And the Anonymous Nobody: April 29th. This morning, the storied Queens trio announced that they are pushing back the release date to August 26.
“We have a lot of featured artists on this album," the group wrote in a letter to their 11,000 Kickstarter backers. "So with that being said, we have to get permission from their labels, and that takes a little bit of time. As well as our attorneys speaking with their attorneys and drawing up agreements and contracts,” they wrote.
They also announced that they would release their first single, "Pain" feat. Snoop Dogg this summer

Charlamagne Tha God Responds To Young Thug's Threat Over Birdman Squabble
Charlamagne Tha God responds to Young Thug's recent threats of torture.
Birdman's been trending heavily thanks to his unintentionally-hilarious "interview" with The Breakfast Club. As you should know by now, the Cash Money head honcho appeared on The Breakfast Club for all of two minutes, simply to tell "all tree of y'all" (Angela, Charlamagne and Envy) to put some "respek on my name." He dipped pretty quickly after that, inspiring loads of memes (this one is by far my favorite though) and other funny shit.
Some artists sided with Birdman in the whole debacle, and some with The Breakfast Club. Young Thug came to the defense of Baby, and threatened Charlamagne in so doing. During The Breakfast Club episode yesterday, the trio responded to Thugga's threats while discussing the past weekend's topics.
Charlamagne said, "It was a great weekend to be in the house. Who wants to be out in the streets...Plus who wants to go out in the streets when you got Young Thug out here saying he wants to torture me!"
DJ Envy interjected, "But what does torture mean?" Charlamagne replied, "I don't know and I don't want to know. All I'm thinking is blunts and penises. And I don't want no problem."

Beyonce's "Lemonade" Now Available On iTunes
The full album and the 65-minute film are no longer exclusive to TIDAL.
Despite the fact that most of her new album Lemonade was an indictment of her husband Jay Z's infidelities, Beyonce is still betrothed to his streaming service TIDAL. While the album is still only available for streaming on TIDAL, as of Monday morning it is available to purchase on iTunes.
The iTunes edition of the album comes with all 12 tracks and the full 65-minute Lemonade film. It costs $17.99 in the United States, a small price to pay compared to the high cost/demand of tickets for her upcoming Formation tour (now with DJ Khaled!)
Purchase Lemonade on iTunes and stream the album on TIDAL.
Kendrick Lamar & Dr. Dre Perform At Anderson .Paak's Coachella Set
Watch Kendrick Lamar & Dr. Dre perform "Backstreet Freestyle," & "Still D.R.E.," and other classics at Anderson .Paak's Coachella set.
Anderson .Paak is taking full advantage of his newfound status as the critical and popular darling of R&B. He was the MVP of SXSW, performing over a dozen shows in four days, and his name appears on just about every festival billing this summer.
After bringing out T.I. during his set at Coachella's first weekend, .Paak kicked things up a notch on the second weekend's final night by bringing out Dr. Dre & Kendrick Lamar. Dre and Lamar had made a cameo at Ice Cube's headlining set the night before. Backed by the Free Nationals, Dre came out wearing a Prince shirt and rocked the crowd with such timeless classics as “The Next Episode,” “California Love” and “Still D.R.E." It marked the first time Dre shared the stage with his new Aftermath protege. Lamar then came out and traded bars with .Paak on "Backstreet Freestyle." A memorable night for all those lucky enough to witness the event in person.

Meek Mill Previews Collaborations With Chris Brown & Rick Ross
Meek says he might have to charge for "Dreamchasers 4".
Meek Mill has been hyping his Dreamchasers 4 mixtape for some time now, and while he's shared two solid EPs in the process, fans are still eagerly awaiting news of the project. Today, Meek has shared clips of two new records, the first of which being an unnamed collaboration with Rick Ross, and the second, a record called "Trust Me' with Rozay and Chris Brown.
Meek certainly seems pretty excited about the new material indicating that he may have to release DC4 as a retail project. "I can't drop this shit for free," he wrote. Judging by the impressive numbers his last project put up, that's probably a good idea.

DJ Khaled Interested In Buying Miami Heat Ownership Stake
Khaled is looking to take his mogul status to the next level.
With the NBA playoffs underway, TMZ Sports caught up with Snapchat maestro DJ Khaled to get his thoughts on the Miami Heat chances at making a championship run and the possibility of a Khaled ownership stake in his hometown team.
“I would love to talk to the Heat [and see if they’d] let me be a owner, even if it’s one percent. Either way, I’m there representing courtside. And if I’m out of town, I’m representing. I bleed Miami. It’s Miami Heat for life. It’s Miami everything.”
Jay Z famously held an ownership stake in the Brooklyn Nets of one-sixth of one percent. The Miami Heat are valued at $1.3 billion. A one percent ownership stake would be $13 million, or roughly of Khaled's net worth. Even if Lebron doesn't come back, he's still down to make it happen.
“I’ve got nothing but love for LeBron James,” Khaled said. "If he came back to Miami, smartest decision he ever made in his career. But where he’s at, it’s a blessing for him, too.”

Lupe Fiasco Releases "Conversations #1" Ahead Of "Drogas"
Lupe Fiasco teases his upcoming album "Drogas" with the release of "Conversations #1."
After a lengthy silence, Lupe Fiasco came out of hiding earlier in the week to reveal his three-album plan had changed slightly. Fans may recall that Lupe teased three different titles for albums he'd be releasing one after another this year, ending with the final release of his career, Roy. Roy has now apparently been scrapped, and in it's place we'll be receiving an album titled DROGAS light*. DROGAS light* serves as the second of the three-album rollout, sided between DROGAS and SKULL-- SKULL being his last album.
Now that the album roll out is sufficiently clear, Lupe has decided to tease the DROGAS project with the release is "CONVERSATIONS #1," and according to his Soundcloud, it will be a series, thus we can likely expect "CONVERSATIONS #2" to hit shortly. It's not new music, to be clear, and according to the artwork, it's was recorded "live on the scene back in 2013." In the conversation, Lupe talks with various members of the community, mainly consisting of L.O.T.U.S. (Lifting Ourselves Through US) members, about the media's affects on their children and the community as a whole-- for example, they're advocating for less explicit content to be played on radio.

Kobe Bryant Refused To Sign Nick Young's Adidas & Threw Them In The Trash
Kobe Bryant is a company man.
Kobe Bryant was definitely in a giving mood all season, blessing other NBA stars like Paul George and LeBron James with their with own signed pairs of Kobe sneakers. With his retirement giving season is over, and not everybody was lucky enough to get a pair. However, it’s unlikely anyone was as unlucky as the Black Mamba’s own teammate Nick Young.
Per Los Angeles Laker’s reporter Mike Trudell, after Kobe’s last game Swaggy P tried to get his legendary teammate to sign a pair of his adidas kicks. Rather than sign a competitor’s shoes, Kobe threw Young’s sneakers in the trash and gave him a pair of signed Nike sneakers. It also looks like Young snagged a signed copy of the scorecard. Maybe Kobe didn’t like it when Nick Young said he left Nike because they don’t pay enough attention to their sub-star players.
We aren’t sure exactly how many sneakers Kobe Bryant signed during his farewell season, but according to ESPN he brought five to seven pairs to each road game. We’re sure Nike isn’t sweating the stock.

Future & Jay Z To Release Single With DJ Khaled
Southside mentioned the song during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid.
Stop the presses!! Future and Jay Z have a song together... with DJ Khaled. This revelation comes courtesy of 808 Mafia producer Southside, who mentioned the record during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid.
"I got the new single with Future and Jay Z too," Southside said. "And Khaled. That shit's crazy."
Southside revealed that he produced the song with Jake One and a producer named G-Coup. Khaled has a history of bringing huge names together, so the fact that he is involved makes the Future-Jay Z pairing more believable. As does the fact that Jay Z is now Khaled's manager. This is not the first time Southside has offered a juicy bit of insider information re: Future. In November, he mentioned that Future was sitting on six albums and three mixtapes. (Fewtch has blessed the streets with one album and one mixtape since then.)
Southside mentions the Future-Jay Z-Khaled single at the 3:30 mark below. The whole 20-minute interview is worth a listen -- the Atlanta producer discusses his role in Kanye West's The Life of Pablo, how he and Flocka changed the sonic landscape of hip hop, the time Kanye told him he was the future of music, and more.
Kanye West Debuts New Song, Performs "Pop Style" For First Time
Watch Kanye West perform new song "I Don't Want To Be Liked" and Drake's "Pop Style" in Manila.
Several videos have appeared from Kanye West's first show of 2016 at the Paradise International Music Festival in the Philippines. Now, more footage from the performance has surfaced, including the debut of a never-before-heard take on "Runaway" titled (on YouTube) "I Don't Want To Be Liked." The song features some auto-tune warbling from Kanye over gospel piano. "I would rather follow God than the media," he sings.
Also of note: a performance of his new collaboration with Drake and Jay Z "Pop Style" that came before Drake debuted a new Throne-less "Pop Style" on OVO Radio. So, perhaps Manila was the first and last time we hear the song from Kanye.

Drake's "Views From The 6" Will Be An Apple Music Exclusive
Drake's upcoming album "Views from the 6" will be released exclusively on Apple Music.
Top artists have joined forces with the most prominent music streaming services in recent months. Rihanna and Kanye West both released their latest albums on Tidal -- and Ye even kept The Life of Pablo locked on the Jay Z-helmed platform for over a month and a half. It is known that Drake has a deal with Apple Music, though the exact terms of the partnership are unknown. Last summer, it was rumored that Apple offered him an estimated $19 million. But the deal should prove to be lucrative for both parties, as Pitchfork now reports (via Apple) that Views from the 6, upon its release, will be an Apple Music exclusive.
As for how long the album will remain exclusively on Apple Music, that much is unknown. The news comes soon after Drake announced the Views release date live on tonight's episode of OVO Sound Radio, which is still going on now (stream here). Fans have got exactly 20 days until the release of Drake's fourth album. Better download Apple Music before April 29.

Meek Mill Previews New "Dreamchasers 4" Music On Instagram
Meek Mill drops a few video clips on his Instagram with music presumably taken off his "Dreamchasers 4" mixtape.
Earlier this week, Meek Mill made a surprise return with "Trap Vibes," a two-in-one track that finds Meek rapping over Desiigner's "Panda" and, more notably, Drake's "Summer Sixteen." In February, the judge had included stipulations to Meek's initial sentencing that banned him from recording any music during his three months on house arrest. A month later, it was reported that Meek would attempt to appeal said stipulation, and while there has been no confirmation on whether his appeal went through, one might think that it was granted -- considering "Trap Vibes" as well as the Dreamchasers 4 video snippets that have recently appeared on his Instagram. While the details aren't clear, it's best not to get too bogged down in the legality of the music; what's important is that DC4 is sounding fire as can be.
Drake To Host OVO Sound Radio Tomorrow Night
Drake and his OVO partner Oliver El-Khatib will host tomorrow's episode of OVO Sound Radio.
It's Views month, so it was only a matter of time until Drake made an appearance on his label's Beats 1 radio show. Tomorrow night at 6pm EST, the duo known as October Firm, made up of Drake and OVO co-founder Oliver-El Khatib, will host episode 19 of OVO Sound Radio. The show will also include a guest mix from Virgil Abloh, the creator of the fashion company Off-White as well as a close creative consultant of Kanye West's.
The last time October Firm hosted OVO Sound was at the end of January, and to cap off their mix, Drake premiered the first single off Views from the 6 and proceeded to rinse it back 5 more times to give it the blessing of the lucky number 6. After October Firm, Majid Jordan took over to live premiere their debut self-titled album.
If OVO Sound Radio sticks to its bi-weekly schedule, then Drake will have one more opportunity to host the show this month (on the 23rd). Some have posited that next Saturday (the 16th) would make a good Views release date as the date, written in numerical form -- 4/16, matches Drake's native area code in Toronto. However, Pitchfork recently posted an article in which the site claimed to have insider's knowledge that Views would be arriving closer to the end of the month.
Regardless of when the full album is dropping -- or if it will be premiered on OVO Sound -- it's almost certain that Drake will give fans something (anything!!!) off of Views from the 6 tomorrow night. And that's reason enough to tune in.
Rick Ross' "Party Rock Anthem" Lawsuit Thrown Out Of Court
Rick Ross' copyright wasn't strong enough to hold up his case.
Back in 2014, Rick Ross launched a lawsuit against LMFAO over their 2011 single, "Party Rock Anthem," citing its similarities to his own 2006 hit, "Hustlin'". Specifically, the line just before the drop in "Anthem" is "Everyday I'm Shufflin'," which Rozay's team saw as a direct lift of his refrain, "Everyday I'm Hustlin'," as well as being delivered in a deliberately similar voice.
After two years in the system however, TMZ reports that the suit has hit a dead end, with a judge ruling that the case be thrown out. Apparently, Ross' copyright on the original song was unclear enough that he couldn't hold LMFAO accountable for infringing on it, with the judge looking at three separate filings that were reportedly "inconsistent and incomplete".
So it appears LMFAO are off the hook now. Do you think the lawsuit was justified to begin with?
Watch Kendrick Lamar Induct N.W.A. Into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
Kendrick's speech was one for the ages.
It's always great to see an act as important as N.W.A. recognized for their influence, but it's even better when it's the right person doing the honoring. You couldn't really ask for a better speaker for the group's induction to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame than Kendrick Lamar, and he lived up to expectations at the ceremony yesterday.
Lamar went through the contributions of each member of the group with the enthusiasm of a fan, while also illustrating the group's larger importance within history. "I know each and every one of them said they never wanted to be role models," he said. "But look … The first time I see Eazy bust through that screen out the jail cell on stage on “We Want Eazy,” I felt like every single one of them was black superheroes where I come from. Because it shows, like I said, people from our community can be on that television screen, be on awards, and still have their voice and be real to themselves. So make some noise for that because that’s the realest thing."
Of course, the members of the group also made their own speeches, with Ice Cube and MC Ren taking a moment to address Gene Simmons of KISS' negative comments about rap (he said it would last ten years at best, and he was looking forward to its death), to which they responded "hip-hop is here forever!". They also took a pretty epic photo with Kendrick that Cube later threw up on his Instagram.

Diddy Passed On Signing DMX Because His Voice Was "Too Rough"
He then offered to double DMX's money after X signed to Def Jam.
During an appearance on the Drink Champs podcast, DMX told hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN about a meeting he had with Diddy at a Yonkers studio in 1997 or 1998 in which Diddy told DMX he was going to sign him to Bad Boy.
"One thing I respect about Puff is he told me too my face what he thought," DMX recalled. "He said, you're voice is too rough, you're not marketable.' So in my mind, what he's saying is, 'work on this.'"
Shortly after the meeting, DMX signed to Def Jam and Diddy had a change of heart. "Maybe two weeks later after he found out I was getting signed by Def Jam, he was like, "Yo, I'll lace your pockets! I'll double what they gave you!" said DMX.
DMX's 1998’s debut album It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot went quadruple platinum.
Paul Walker's Daughter Wins $10 Million Settlement From Driver
Paul Walker and Roger Rodas were friends and business partners before their tragic deaths.
With the end of last year’s Furious 7 came the end of Paul Walker’s time on the silver screen, after being killed in a car accident in 2013. The car was being driven by Roger Rodas, a friend of Walker as well as his financial advisor. Apparently that friendship has not continued into the next life, because TMZ has reported that in 2014 Paul Walker’s daughter won a settlement with Rodas’ attorneys for $10.1 million.
The basis for the suit, as explained by the 17-year old Meadow Walker’s attorney Jeff Milam, is that Roger Rodas was partly to blame for the horrific accident. Meadow Walker will get just over $7.2 million, while the lawyer gets just under $3 million. However, the duo aren’t finished with their lawsuits. They plan to sue Porsche next, blaming the actor's death in part on defects in the car that Rodas was driving at the time of the crash.
It may be difficult for Walker and her attorney to win that case, as a few days ago a judge ruled in Porsche’s favor in a nearly identical suit filed by the widow of Roger Rodas. They still plan to move forward with the suit, citing differences in the way Walker died compared to Rodas. It’s always sad when lawsuits follow such tragic deaths.
